38th Annual Viking Opener Alumni Cross Country 2-Mile
This is a 2-mile race on trails and bike paths at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa. It is held in conjunction with the Viking Opener, a series of high school races that attracts more than 30 teams from Northern California. The Alumni Race is open to all runners aged 18-and-over. Eligibility: Entrants must be past high school age (18-and-older). No exceptions.
All entrants will be placed on teams according to the high school they attended with many teams grouped by high school region, e.g. Marin County, Bay Area, Southern California, Midwest U.S., etc. It is an exciting atmosphere with hundreds of spectators and a chance to watch the best high school runners in Northern California compete.
- When: Saturday, September 13. Check in by 9:15 a.m. Race starts at 9:40 a.m. (High school races begin at 8:35 a.m.)
- Where: The race starts and finishes near the boat ramp on the west side of Spring Lake.
- Parking: There is a cost per vehicle to enter Spring Lake Park. The Newanga entrance is EXTREMELY impacted and parking may not be available on that side by mid-morning. My recommendation is to park at Howarth Park for free and walk/jog the 1-mile to the start (allow 25 minutes). You may also enter Spring Lake Park from the Violetti entrance and park near the swimming lagoon but you will still walk about a mile to the race start.

- Entry Fee: Collected on race day at the Alumni Check-In. $10 if pre-registered; $20 if registering on race day. Make checks payable to MHS Cross Country.
