Empire Runners Second Annual Scavenger Hunt

EMPIRE RUNNERS SECOND ANNUAL SCAVENGER HUNT

APRIL 15-30, 2022

Details: This is the second annual Scavenger Hunt for Empire Runners. You will have 15 days to run and photo op in these locations. This run begins on April 15-April 30, 2022. You can combine some or all of the locations into one run or split it up into different runs/walks. If you split into several different runs or walks, then the minimum per day mileage is 1 mile. 

Cost: Free to Empire Runners with a suggested donation to the Student Grant Fund: Every year (even in 2020) Empire Runners give scholarships to graduating seniors. Typically, our biggest event, Kenwood Footrace, generates some of the funding for the Student Grant Fund. $5 of your membership dues is allocated towards this special fund. We boost this fund yearly through raffles, auctions, and our club events. This special event is meant to help replenish this fund so that we can support our high school graduating seniors in 2022.

What you need: You will need a GPS watch, Camera, running shoes and a sense of adventure.

Rules:

1. Complete the tasks below.

2. Use your GPS device to upload your locations.

3. Tell us a story about your adventure.

4. Take a photo of each location.

5. Be respectful of businesses, staff and patrons.

6. Comply with all COVID guidelines posted in whichever location you are visiting.

7. Each day begins a new segment which is a minimum of a 1 mile run.

Submit this all using the form here by May 5, 2022.

The Hunt:

1. Start your run from Heart and Sole bonus photo with a favorite shoe 

2. Rosa rock which commemorates the name of our city

3. Snoopy Sculpture could be any one of the characters

4. Courthouse Square run around the square

5. House with lawn art

6. Photo in front of a  Port-o-potty 

7. 800 meters as fast as you can down the Prince Greenway Trail

8. Photo in front of the Heart Sculpture at the Fire Station

9. Photo with Flowers in a garden 

10. Photo of the historical Luther Burbank gardens

11. Photo in front of the Fish Sculpture

12. In front of a bakery/donut shop Bonus if you eat a pastry and run at the same time

13. SMART Train Station 

14. Photo of the McDonald House in the historic McDonald neighborhood

15. Photo in the Rural Cemetary of a grave that is in the 1800’s

16. Picture in front of a school

17. Run around and take a photo of the De Turk Round Barn

18. Photo in front of the library Bonus photo with your favorite book

19. Photo of the hand sculpture

20. Photo with a pride flag

21. Photo in front of a brewery or tasting room (Adults only) Bonus if you drink a beer. Please don’t take this photo if you are under 21 

22. Photo on a park swing (Kids only)

Photos: Photos may be used for Facebook or Instagram. If you prefer for a photo not to be used, please indicate in the results.

Prizes:

• All youth who participate will receive an award.

• 75 Grand Prix Points to those who run to all 20 locations.
