John Royston Mojo is another of the behind-the-scenes low-profile reasons the Empire Runners have been successful. Most members are not aware of his extensive contributions. Most famous perhaps as half of the "DocNMojo" productions that put on the Loop and Loop de Loop, Mojo was one of the early directors of the Kenwood footrace when our club took it over from Fred Kenyon. He set the standard of committee meetings and business negotiations that put our most ambitious race on solid footing. He was also a key person in the selection and aquisition of much of the club's equipment, the most famous being the amazing Clock Stand (talk to Bob Shor about getting a license to operate it). For years he was at every workout, taking names and awarding points for attendance. He is still a regular at most of the workouts (and still setting the pace for most of us), but in the last few years he and Doc spend many of their weekends in the mountains. Mojo discovered mountain-climbing first, and the "DocNMojo" team is now a tourist agency for mountain-climbing expeditions (that's a joke, but it's not far from the truth!). His first passion is now mountain climbing, but he (and Doc) continue to be very active in the club and critical to its successful continuance.
