Doug Courtemarche
"Taxman" (Doug works for the IRS) is the head track coach at Santa Rosa High
School, where Bob Shor also coaches, and these two go way back over the years
in their contributions to our club and the running community. Doug still finds
time between busy high school track and XC seasons to put on the annual Valley
Ford Relays in February. He is there early at many Empire races to work with
Bob Shor on the timing and running of the event. Our Santa Rosa HS connection
also includes Ross Weisshaar, who puts in long hours on the shot, discus and
javlin events for local track meets. The SRHS crew recently took over the
management of the course for the Kenwood footrace from Montgomery HS and
Larry Meredith (retired), and they bring the parent volunteers and high school
students needed to monitor the course and help in the running of the race. Doug
was active for years in the running of Santa Rosa Express, the local youth club,
and is one in a long list of local high school coaches who make Empire Runners
a success.
